Final Fantasy is one of the biggest RPG franchises in video game history, created by Hironobu Sakaguchi and developed and owned by Square Enix. The first game was released in 1987 for the Famicom Disk System and to this day with 15 titles with 173 million copies sold worldwide making it one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time. Three Final Fantasy games were released on the Family Computer/ Nintendo Entertainment System. The first Final Fantasy was released in Japan in 1987 and in North America in 1990. It introduced many concepts to the console RPG genre and has since been remade on several platforms, Final Fantasy II, was released in 1988 in Japan.
